"The believing we do something when we do nothing is the first illusion of tobacco."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ending the dependency on tobacco can be difficult. Most smokers try to stop on their own - quitting "cold turkey" has a success rate of about 5%. Even with over the counter Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) success rates are only slightly higher. Studies have shown that coordinated counselling, support and pharmacotherapy can greatly improve these quit rates.

The CISIC treatment program includes 7 weekly counselling sessions with a physician specialist. In week 1, a medical history is taken to identify the reasons why you smoke and why you want to quit. In weeks 2 and 3, you will learn more about the chemical and psychological aspects of nicotine addiction. You will identify your triggers and learn new and healthier alternatives. Your smoking cessation treatment plan will be tailored to your particular needs and may include Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and/or other medications to help you stop smoking with ease. In week 4, you will be ready to break free from nicotine addiction for good. After your quit date, there are supportive counselling visits at weeks 5, 6 and 7 as well as e-mail/Lunch Club follow ups at Day 50, Day 100, 6 months and 1 year after your quit date.

The CISIC uses a   Micro Direct Smoke Check Carbon Monoxide (CO) monitor to help motivate and maintain your healthy decision of quitting smoking. When you are ready to stop smoking for good, CISIC can help! Please call 250-714-9164 or email: appointments.
